With Concept 6 Series Coupe or not, BMW revealed images and detailed information of the production version of the all-new 2012 650i Convertible ahead. The styling of the BMW 650i Convertible is pretty much in concert with the BMW Concept 6 Series Coupe.

BMW’s latest revision of 2012 650i Convertible is no doubt bigger than its predecessor, with 2.9 inches longer and 1.5 inches wider. BMW claims that its new platform provides a 50% increase in torsional rigidity than previous generation model, which means that it is heavier too.

The 2012 BMW 650i Convertible comes with a fabric roof that is extractable into a stowage compartment. It can open in 19 seconds and close in about 24 seconds, and it is operable at speeds up to 25 mph.

As for the powertrain, the 2012 BMW 650i Convertible is equipped with the latest 4.4-liter V8 engine with direct injection and turbocharger which pumps out 400 hp between 5,500 and 6,400 rpm, and a peak torque of 450 lb-ft between 1,750 and 4,500 rpm. Power is shifted through with either a new 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox. This enables the 2012 BMW 650i to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds, and with top speed is electronically governed to 155 mph.

Like most BMWs, the new 2012 BMW 650i is loaded with new technologies. It includes standard Driving Dynamics Control, Brake Energy Regeneration system, LED foglamps and lights and an optional Active Roll Stabilization feature that reduces body roll in high-speed corners and in sudden changes of direction, or transitions.

The 2011 BMW 650i Convertible is expected to go on sale in Spring of 2011, and the pricing list will be announced near launch date.
