A smaller coupe version of the Ford Focus may be on its way soon. According to AutoExpress, Ford intends to release a concept coupe version based on the Ford Focus platform, which is set to make its debut at the 2011 Detroit Motor Show.

Ford is milking the popularity of the Ford Focus to the max. We’ve seen it in every form, from a four-door sedan version to the tuner version, and now a Focus coupé. A concept coupe version will take cues from both the European Capri and the new Focus ST models.

Design boss Martin Smith said, “Our plan was always to get the basic Ford product line-up successful. Now we have done that, we can start to build more exciting products – and we’ll show how we’re going to do this at Detroit.”

Not much details have been released, but According to AutoExpress, an unnamed insider says that the Ford Focus coupe coupé is designed with a lower center height and a wider body than the Focus. Since a lot resembling to the Focus ST, we are speculating that it will receive the new 2.0-liter Ecoboost four-cylinder engine producing 247 horsepower. We know that the Focus ST with this engine can sprint from 0-60 mph in six seconds, but in a much lighter body of the Ford coupé, it may be in the mid-five seconds.

Anyways, we will have more concrete details of the Ford Focus coupé right before the 2011 Detroit Motor Show. It is likely that the production model will arrive in early 2012.
