The 2012 Nissan GT-R with a price that’s nearly reached the $100K mark, we need to see how well it’s performed. The 2012 Nissan GT-R “Black Edition” made its debut at the LA Auto Show early last month boasting with higher power output of 530 horsepower, which is about horsepower than previous year model. And we were wondering if 2012 Nissan GT-R performs better than last year model.
We had expected the increase horsepower and price tag would make the 2012 Nissan GT-R faster, and indeed it did. The 2012 U.S.-spec model is equipped with the tweaked 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 to churn out 530 horsepower and 488 lb-ft of torque. The twin-turbocharged V6 now can launch from 0-62 mph in a flat 3.0 seconds (0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds), which is about 0.5 second faster than the 485 hp version.
In comparison with the 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition, it can accomplish a 0-60 sprint time in about 3.7 seconds in its 505 horsepower V8 engine. With the almost the same price tag as the 2012 Nissan GT-R, the 2011 Corvette Z06 no longer holds the title for the “best bang for the buck” in the super sports car segment.
