The wagon is back in town with Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon

2010 cadillac cts sport wagon The wagon is back in town with Cadillac CTS V Sport Wagon

As the sport utility vehicle trend is fading away fast as it was coming, motor manufacturers are trying to fill up that gap.  So what to better fill that gap then to bring back the station wagon style, but this time with a more sporty look.  Cadillac is giving the green light to mass produce the 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon.  But really, do you really need a 6.2-liter V-8 with a 556 horspower and 551 pound-feet of torque engine inside this sport wagon?  It just doesn’t mean if you can stick a V8 engine anywhere that you can do.

The station wagon style wasn’t popular back in the 80s because of many reasons.  We ditched the wagon back in the 80s because it wasn’t practical in first place.  It had a stereotype of being your parents’ car.  Sure it can carry more grocery, and so does my sedan.  The cargo space is too small to carry anything big, and too big to carry anything small that my sedan can also carry.  And don’t tell me that it is cool because you can stub your guitar and surfboard in there, because my car can do that also.   It makes no economic sense at all when GM is trying to recover from bankruptcy and at the same time is trying to bring such wasteful, unimaginative cars to the market.  We don’t need a another gas guzzler sport station wagon, especially when gasoline prices hover around $3.25 per gallon.

Bob Lutz hinted  back in July that the CTS-V wagon may be mass produced and CEO Fritz Henderson dropped an even stronger hint at the vehicle’s development in August to bring the wagon look back with the introduction of the Cadillac CTS-V.  Here is a hint for you, Mr. CEO’s, if it wasn’t popular then, it wouldn’t be now either.  Just look at Dodge Magnum as a failed example.

But really, would you rather spend your money on the Cadillac CTS-V sedan or this station wagon? It both does the same job, but the Cadillac CTS-V sedan looks much better and fun to drive.

CTS-V wagon is great looking & the power & handling will be fantastic. Times have changed sir. If you think just because Dodge stopped the Magnum, that wagons wont survive, you’re very mistaken. The Magnums interior was mostly awful & plain, too square, & not user friendly, & the car itself didnt handle well on curvy roads, unlike the Mazda6 Wagon of the 2004-07 yrs & the BMW 535/540i wagon, & the new Lincoln MKZ sportswagon, which all handle very well in all areas. There’s a clear market for good handling & power, with a bit of luxury, sportswagons & people are noticing. SUV’s are mostly big gas guzzling sloths, sportswagons are the new thing & more practical for families than sedans.
