2012 Nissan NV starts at $24,590 by spring of 2011

To compete with Ford Transit, Nissan is getting ready to launch its new NV commercial vehicle in the U.S. and Canada. There will be two versions of this van offered, which consists of the standard roof and and high-roof models.

The Nissan NV van with a standard roof will start at about $24,590, and it comes with a V6 engine. And the high-roof SV-trim NV 3500 model will be priced at $32,190, and it comes with a 5.6-liter V8 engine producing 317 horsepower.

The Nissan NV vans are spacious than Ford Transit models, and it comes with a much powerful V6 and V8 powertrains as well. But that certainly comes with a price of more fuel consumption than the Ford Transit Van, which comes with a four-cylinder engine.

Both the Nissan NV and Ford Transit vans are formidable work horses, so it really depends on your business needs. For light delivery and pickup jobs, the Ford Transit would be a right choice. And for heavy-duty equipment deliveries, the Nissan NV would be a better choice.

The Nissan NV will be produced at Nissan’s Canton, MS. assembly facility. It is scheduled to go on sale through Nissan Commercial Vehicle dealers nationwide by spring 2011.
