2012 BMW Z4 will get a turbocharged four-cylinder engine

In effort to push the company’s agenda to have more fuel efficient vehicles in the market, BMW is planning to replace the 3.0-liter inline-six in the base Z4 roadster for a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

There are only a few details of this new turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It is expected at least 200 horsepower will be churned out from this four-pot engine, according to a Twitter post by Automobile. We assume that it will be tuned to about 250 horsepower to keep inline with the spirit of BMW.

It is expected that the BMW Z4 with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine will be available by 2012.
