Honda just unveiled its ninth generation Civic Coupe and Sedan at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. The new 2012 Civic concepts come with subtle changes to exterior and interior compared to the current-generation Civic. It is likely that the production models of both the Civic Coupe and Sedan will be very similar with a difference in the two- and four-door layouts. From a glance, you could mistake it for a Honda Accord.
Meanwhile, four-door buyers can expect an exterior design very similar to the 2011 Civic. Though the sedan’s front-fascia wears a little bit more menace than the current design, the carried-over grille and headlights are more than a little familiar. Out back, new tail lamps and a re-sculpted trunk deck dominate the view.
At the moment, the two 2012 Honda Civic concept models are just display shells; they don’t seem to have an interior or engine attached. However, Honda stated that the 2012 Civic range will continue to include a sporty “Si” performance version, and for the first time, Honda will be offering a natural-gas Civic and as well. Additionally, the Civic Hybrid will now feature a lithium-ion batteries pack that will further provide longer travel distance on a single charge.
That is all we know for now, and we can expect the 2012 Honda Civic to hit dealerships by early next year.
