2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG with Bi-Turbo V8 goes on sale in summer

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG just unveiled a few months ago at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show in last November, and now it is making a full release of details of what the production model will be like when it goes on sale in the U.S. in the summer of 2011.

The more boldly styled four-door sports sedan 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG is equipped with the recently constructed AMG 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine, having a peak output of 525 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. And with the Performance Package, power output jumps to 557 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission. Mercedes-Benz claims that with the standard powertain setup, the 2012 CLS 63 AMG car can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds with top speed reaching 155 mph. And sprint time from 0-60 mph is about 4.3 seconds with top speed of 186 mph for the Performance Package.

While fuel ecomony usually be tossed out when we are dealing with high performance sports car, but the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG does provide a greater fuel efficiency than its predecessor with the help of the start/stop technology to further help improve fuel economy. It goes 4 miles farther in the city on one gallon of gasoline, that makes it 33 percent more fuel-efficient than previous model. Estimated U.S. fuel economy is about 16 mpg city and 21 mpg highway, which is not bad for this behemoth V8 engine.

To provide better handling for 2012 CLS 63 AMG, Mercedes-Benz upgraded with AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension that permits the driver to change between three suspension settings of “Comfort”, “Sport” and “Sport plus”. To round out the handling system, 19-inch wheels are wrapped with 255/35 R19 tires on the front and 285/30 R19 tires on the rear along with a set of ceramic brakes as optional equipment.

For the exterior looks, we can see Mercedes-Benz added a new body kit that includes boot lid spoiler, side skirts, and various styles for the front-fascia and rear end. Expect the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG to hit dealerships by beginning of this summer.
