Mitsubishi today releases the Concept Global Small car ahead of the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The Concept Global Small is designed with the ideas of lightweight, affordability and high fuel-efficiency.

The Mitsubishi Concept Global will feature a 1.0 or 1.2-liter gasoline engine mated to a CVT transmission, a regenerative braking system, and a stop-start mechanism to conserve fuel. To further enhance fuel-saving, the Concept Global Small has been designed with aerodynamic and light weight body work. In addition, the Mitsubishi Concept Global Small achieves CO2 emissions in the mid-90g/km range.

This new compact vehicle is schedule to enter production in 2012 at Mitsubishi’s new third factory in Thailand, which will have an initial capacity for around 150,000 units per year.

We’ll have more details on Mitsubishi’s new sub-compact car when it debuts at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
