We get to see the first look of the 2012 Fiat Fremont that is based on the Dodge Journey. Last week we reported that Chrysler is pulling the Dodge Journey off the shelf in Europe and Fait is taking over of its sales.
Strange partnership, but whatever makes the dough. Chrysler is selling the Fiat 500 in America because it isn’t doing so well in Europe, and vice versa.
The Fiat Fremont is a much more refined version than the Dodge Journey. It is built with Fiat’s 2.0-liter MutltiJet Turbo producing 140 hp or 170 hp, and it is mated to a front-wheel drive manual transmission. However, Fiat will later offer the vehicle in 4×4 versions with 170 HP 2.0 MultiJet and 276 HP 3.6 gasoline V6 engines, both with automatic transmissions. In addition, a Chrysler’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with an automatic transmission will be available as well.
The Fiat Fremont will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and we will have more details by then. All in all, the Fiat Fremont is a much better looking crossover than the Dodge Journey. And the interesting part is that it will be built along side with the Dodge Journey at the same plant in Toluca, Mexico.
