Porsche recently unveiled the 911 Black Edition, and now, it added the Porsche Boxster S Black Edition as well. The Boxster S Black Edition gets a slight boost in horsepower and a few other new features such as a new black paint job, black wheels, a black convertible top and a fully black interior.
In the engine compartment, we find a slightly modified engine 3.4-liter flat-six engine producing 320 horsepower, which is about 10 more horsepower over the standard Boxster S. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual or an optional the Porsche’s PDK dual-clutch transmission.
Performance numbers produced from Porsche Boxster S Black Edition are much very similar to the standard version. Zero to 60 miles per hour takes just 4.8 seconds with top speed of 170 mph. But with an optional Sport Chrono package, the sprint time reduces about two-tenths of a second, which is nothing to write home about.
Now the big question for 2011, what is the miles per gallon rating? Well, the Boxster S Black Edition provides a fuel economy number rating of 19 city/26 hwy mpg, which is standard for a sporty six-cylinder engine in its displacement range.
Additional standard features found in the Porsche Boxster S Black Edition include black-painted Design package; a convenience package that includes bi-xenon headlamps, auto-dimming mirrors, automatic climate control; and a infotainment package that includes navigation, Bose surround sound and XM satellite radio with NavTraffic.
The Porsche Boxster S Black Edition will cost about $65,200 when it goes on sale this spring, with production limited to only 987 units worldwide.
