Just a few weeks ago, we reported of a rebadged 2011 Dodge Journey as a Fiat Freemont to be sold in Europe, and now Fiat is releasing the Freemont in full details.
Even though the Fiat Freemont is built in the same Chrysler’s plant in Toluca, Mexico, somehow exhibits a bit of the European influence. We can see bits of changes here and there to make the Fiat Freemont apart from the Dodge Journey model. These changes are the front spoilers with split air vents and Fiat badges throughout the vehicle.
But noticeably under the hood, it is equippedd with Fiat’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing either a 140 horsepower or 170 horsepower, and it is mated to a manual gearbox. Fiat also plans to offer both two- and four-wheel drive versions equipped with the 2.0-liter MultiJet diesel producing 170 horsepower, and later it will also offer Chrysler’s 276-hp 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine as well.
The Fiat Freemont will go on sale across Europe in the second half of 2011.
