Yesterday we got the first look of the sketch of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class model from Autoblog.it, and today we received confirmation from Automotive News that Mercedes-Benz plans to expand the A-Class segment.

The A-Class platform will be used for future Mercedes-Benz small cars such as the four-door coupe and compact utility vehicle (CUV). Joachim Schmidts, Mercedes-Benz marketing chief, revealed to Automotive News during a phone interview that three A-Class versions may be in the works. And these are the shooting brake, convertible, and three-door versions.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class variants are still in the initial strategic planning stage, and no final decision has been made to design and produce these cars yet. But we will likely to receive further confirmation in a few months after the money line has been calculated.

According to Autoblog.it, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class will likely make its debut at the Shanghai Motor Show, and it may be powered by a 270-hp engine.
