Kia product quality is getting better each year, especially this year Kia Optima. Aside from that, Kia plans to expand its vehicle lineup in every segment, starting with the confirmation to produce the 2012 Kia Rio. It was debuted at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show a few weeks ago in the B-class segment.
Benny Oeyen, Kia top marketer, said that the Kia Rio will help launch its brand into the European market in the B-class segment. The 2012 Kia Rio Sport is a 5-door hatchback that is similar to the Ford Fiesta. It has a wheelbase that is longer by 70 mm (to 2,570 mm) than the previous-generation Rio. This improvement provides greater passenger space and cargo capacity.
Under the hood, the Kia Rio Sport will be powered by a range of gasoline and diesel engines, including a 1.1-liter diesel engine producing 70 horsepower and CO2 emissions from as low as 85 g/km. And an all-new 1.2-liter Turbo Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) that will be available later in 2012, which is a much powerful and fuel-efficient engine in its segment.
The 2012 Kia Rio will go on sale in Europe as a 5-door hatchback this fall, and later in the beginning of 2012, a 3-door version will be introduced to the market as well.
