Dodge first announced the introduction of a turbocharged four-cylinder Dodge Charger, and now in a drastic turn, Dodge plans to make the 2011 Mopar Charger available this summer.

Chrysler just released the first sketch of the upcoming 2011 Mopar Dodge Charger, and it seems to look good from this angle. Noticeably in the rendering picture is the new stripe that stretches across the hood, roof and trunk. In addition, the Mopar team got rid of the the bulbous and hood scoop. The black and blue color scheme stays similar to the Mopar theme.

“After the success of our Mopar ’10 Challenger, we moved on to the iconic Dodge Charger and added even more performance,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “As a new company, we will continue to leverage the heritage of the Mopar brand at every turn.”

As for the powertrain, Team Pentastar hasn’t decided which engine for the Mopar Charger;  either it will get a 5.7-liter V8 engine or the more powerufl 6.1-liter V8 engine. But the engineers did promise that the new Mopar Dodge Charger will have more performance. We’ll have more details when it hits the New York Auto Show.
