Just last week Audi teased us with a few sketches of its new 2012 Q3 crossover, and today, it fully unveiled it before the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show. After all, going viral to millions of internet users is better than just for a few thousand people at the Show.
The new 2012 Audi Q3 is designed as a compact SUV, which features a coupe-like styling that weighs only about 3,307 pounds. All thanks to its engine hood and wraparound tailgate are made of aluminum.
But 2012 Audi Q3’s compactness didn’t hinder it to have ample passenger and cargo space. The luggage compartment offers from 16.24 to 48.2 cubic feet of capacity, depends if the rear seats are folded down. In comparison, that is only about 25 percent smaller than the Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4.
The new 2012 Audi Q3 will be available with a few engine configurations of both gasoline and diesel. It offers two direct-injection gasoline engines and one diesel engine, producing from 140 to 211 horsepower. The 170-horsepower gasoline engine will be available with only front-wheel drive, while the two top-range power engines will be mated to Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
Due to the luxury nature of the 2012 Audi Q3, it comes with a variety of optional amenities. It includes adaptive light technology, electronic parking assistance, hard drive-based MMI infotainment and navigation system.
The 2012 Audi Q3 will be sold for 29,900 euros in Germany when it goes on sale in June. U.S. versions will follow, but so far, we don’t have U.S. pricing yet. Although, we expect it to have a starting price at around $33,500.
