porshe panamera 2 Porshe Panamera Chosen as “Best Car” 10,000th Porshe Panamera Produced

Update:

The “Best Cars” readers’ choice held by “auto motor und sport” since 1977 also considers the results of the magazine’s foreign editions. The Porsche Panamera has been chosen as the best car in its class yet another time. It is receiving the next outstanding award for its new four-door Gran Turismo, with the readers of the renowned motoring journal “auto motor und sport” having chosen the Panamera as No. 1 in the Luxury Performance Segment.

The new Panamera just went on sale of its 10,000th car rolled off the production line at the Leipzig plant. The 500 HP platinum silver metallic Panamera Turbo will be delivered to a customer in Singapore as seen in the picture below. Sales of the Panamera have really taken off.  So far, there are over 9,000 orders after it was launched.  The Gran Turismo won the coveted “Goldenes Lenkrad” ["Golden steering wheel"] and “Auto Trophy” awards in Germany and other international prizes.

The Porshe Panamera S is a rear wheel drive with a 4.8-liter V8 engine that produces 400 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm. Its top speed is 175 mph and 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds (5.0 sec. with Sport Chrono Package Plus). The price for this new bug is about $89,800.

The Porshe plans to build about 20,000 Panamera per year. The fourth Porsche model series is being manufactured at the Leipzig plant in the so-called model mix, sharing a production line with the Cayenne SUV.
