The Bentley name is synonymous with luxury and elegant cars, but that has been changed in recent years. Bentley is extending its image further into the sports car arena. If you have been following the Bentley news lately, it clocked in a new land ice speed record at 205.48 mph with its Continental Supersports. In celebration, Bentley is adding the Continental Supersports ISR to its sports car lineup.
The Bentley Continental Supersports comes with the new ISR Mulliner package, which adds red-accented wheels and a red stripe with the words “Supersports ISR” on the flanks of the car. The new convertible is painted in three new colors of Beluga, Quartzite, and Arctica White, which is complimented with a dark grey soft-top. To further enhance the sporty look, 20″ inch, 10-spoke Supersports wheels with a dark tint finish are added all around. But if customers want to accentuate the Bentley Continental Supersports further, Bentley offers a special ISR Mulliner design package as a no cost option. It comes with 20″ 10-spoke Supersports wheels that are painted with vibrant red paint.
“Juha Kankkunen’s drive was a remarkable achievement and worthy of a very special car. The Continental Supersports ‘Ice Speed Record’ is a true driver’s car that captures that unique Bentley spirit. It offers extreme performance, agility and an extrovert personality, while retaining the refinement, handcrafted luxury and comfort our customers expect.”
As for the interior, it continues with traditional Bentley craftsmanship and fine detailing such as traditional leather hides, diamond-quilted Alcantara to doors, quarter panels and seat facings, and soft-grip leather on the steering wheel and gear lever. The front seats and floor mats also feature embroidered ‘Supersports’ logos along with red accent signature Breitling dashboard clock.
And for the technology amenities, the Bentley Continental Supersports’ interior is equipped with an 8-inch screen displays the SD memory and DVD audio system, telephone, ride and comfort settings as well as the navigation system.
The all-wheel drive Bentley Continental Supersports is powered by a twin turbo-charged 6.0-liter W12-cylinder engine producing 631 horsepower and 590 lb-feet of torque, which represents the most powerful Bentley ever built. The W12 engine is mated with a Quickshift six-speed automatic transmission. It transfers power through the Torsen center differential, which distributes power between the front and rear axles automatically. This helps provide outstanding traction in slippery conditions.
Performance wise, the Bentley Continental Supersports can launch from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 205.48 mph.
The Bentley W12 is a bio-fuel powered engine, which means it can run on both gasoline and E85 bio-ethanol fuels. Bentley claims that the Supersports coupe with the FlexFuel technology offers a reduction of up to 70 per cent in CO2 emissions.
The new Bentley Supersports Continental Convertible ISR made its debut at the 2011 Geneva Show.
