Volkswagen is adding a convertible version to the successful VW Golf lineup, namely the new 2012 VW Golf Cabriolet based on the new Golf MkVII.
The new 2012 VW Golf Cabriolet will be equipped with a soft-top that features a glass window. The soft-top can be folded in just about 9.5 seconds at a speeds up to 18 mph. Instead of a fix roll bar, rollover protection behind the rear seats deploys instantly if there is a roll over in an accident.
As for power, the 2012 VW Golf Cabriolet will be powered with six engine choices, and all of them are turbocharged and direct injected. The four-cylinder gasoline engine lineup includes a 105-hp 1.2-liter, a 122-hp 1.4-liter, a 160-hp 1.4-liter Twincharger, and a 210-hp 2.0-liter. While the last two most powerful engines are the 105-hp 1.6-liter and the 140-hp 2.0-liter.
Too bad that the 2012 VW Golf Cabriolet will be available only in Europe for now, and hopefully, the U.S. customers will eventually see it down the road when Europe had its fun. Check out the video below.
