Porsche just added another round of the “Black Edition” series, and this time it is on the 2012 Cayman S model. Like most “Black Edition” series, the Cayman S Black Edition will be built in a limited-run at only 500 units available for worldwide.
In the 2012 Cayman S Black Edition, Porsche upgraded the 3.4-liter six-cylinder boxer engine to 330 horsepower (10 horsepower more over stock version) while torque remains the same at 273 pound-feet. Performance wise, the 2012 Cayman S Black Edition with a 6-speed manual gearbox can now sprint from 0-62 mph in 5.1 seconds, which is 0.1 second faster than the stock car. And with the optional Porsche PDK double-clutch gearbox, the car can achieve in just 5.0 seconds. But if you are still not impressed with these 0-62 mph times, you can opt for the Porsche Sport Chrono package, it claims to shave off another 0.2 second, reducing the 0-62 mph sprint time to just 4.8 seconds with a top speed reaching 173 mph.
Similar to the Porsche Boxster S Black Edition, the exterior of the 2012 Cayman S Black Edition features extensive black color on almost everything from the body to the wheels, and even the headlights are smoked as well. And in the interior got the “black theme” treatment as well, which features black dashboard, gear lever and instrument dials.
