In celebration of the Volkwagen Golf GTI’s 35th anniversary since its introduction in 1976, the German automaker is releasing a special edition of the Golf GTI. The VW Golf GTI Edition 35 will be launched with some unique styling modifications and a more powerful engine.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35 will be powered by a tuned 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI engine producing a total of 235 horsepower, which is about 25 horsepower more of the standard version. But that is all the information that Volkswagen was given out for now.
Only the exterior modifications, the VW Golf GTI Edition 35 gets new alloy wheels, blacked-out headlights along with LED daytime running lights, and glossy black finish on the grille and mirror housings.
As for the interior, the Golf Edition 35 receives a few minor changes, which include new honeycomb-pattern fabric for the upholstery that are accented with red stitching, and “35” logos are stitched all over.
The VW Golf GTI Edition 35 is ready to order at a starting price of €30,425 ($43,885) in Germany, but the car will make its official debut in June 1st, which customers are expected to get their deliveries by then.
