The 2011 Hyundai Sonata mid-size sedan is sold in the Australian market as the i45. But unlike other markets who currently received a much bigger displacement engine, the new i45 for the Australian market will receive a smaller displacement engine of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

Already elsewhere from other markets around the world, there have been much complaints about the underpowered 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 198 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, but a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that only produces 162 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque? Will that suffice customers? Less likely.

At any case, Hyundai claims the new i45 with the 2.0-liter engine provides a much better fuel economy at around 31 miles per gallom U.S. when mated to an automatic transmission. The 2011 Hyundai i45 2.0-liter engine starts at AU $26,990 for the manual version and at AU $28,590 for an automatic.
