when i get this car i’m not only going to drive it, i’m going to have sex inside and on top of it.

@Texarmageddon You clearly ignored my review of the Elise. That review was taken from Top Gear and we both know they lay the good and bad of cars. you can deny their personal opinion if you please, but the fact remains that you’ve only stated an opinion. I’m not saying the elise is bad, but you obviously have a hate for american cars dude. Marketing Overcomes Performance, and if you give more than what your demographics ask for you are setting yourself for failure.

  • Texarmageddon

@Janusha Look, you just said you could keep up with a viper on the track. Now it’s already been well established that the viper is one of the fastest production cars out there. Not only have you just commented on American cars, but by your own comment have set negativity against european cars also. Surely you haven’t forgotten about the euro cars running the same price out there have you? Just propaganda for the masses.

  • Janusha

This is where my cheapass Lotus Elise comes in. True. Its not always been great. Its fairly new in USA but here its been around since 1996. My 2005 model is quite alot “more car” than it was in 96. However its capable. Beyond belief. With its modest 1.8 litre engine its been known to match 8.4 litre Vipers on a track. And like the Viper, it has no electronic aids or fancy tech. Clearly if US-cars had any redeeming features / capabilities beyond burnouts and dragracing, this wouldnt happen.

  • Janusha

So the car is horrible, horrible and okay ? Thats not where I want to put my money when there are perfectly viable options that dont need those synonyms attached to it.
Gas mileage out of a 6 litre pushrod? Dont even go there. There is no denying the price tho. It IS cheap for big V8. And wouldnt we all like our cars to be cheaper. However cheap is good when you feel you got a good car for less money. Cheap is no longer so attractive when you feel you just bought squeeky cater-for-all plastic.

  • Texarmageddon

Last, Modern Elises feel like they could be taken to a track and abused without falling to bits, but then there’s not that much inside to break. Don’t be worried if the aluminium tub creaks and rattles a bit – there’s little sound deadening and most of the interior is bare metal. The pop-in-pop-out roof bars sometimes have dodgy seals too – but that’s not a big worry. Taken straight from topgear themselves.

  • Texarmageddon

@Janusha What Facts? you say it’s not a matter of opinion, but you just made an onslaught of opinions. I’ve read almost all the reviews for this car and besides the horribly cheap looking cabin and horrible ergonomics, everything is okay with the car. Second, How is a car that cost of an Excess of 40k+ cheap for a base model? Good Gas mileage? It’s a 2,000lb car with 139bhp.. and still gets an epa comparable to this fat pig above.

  • Janusha

The car only just came out… so its not supposed to have quality ? What kind of shit is that. I drive a Lotus Elise. Which is a cheap-ass sportscar. It has quality, handling, good mpg. Saying a car isnt supposed to have those properties is like saying a plane isnt supposed to fly. A boat isnt supposed to float. If a car wallows like a soviet shrimp vessel or goes SQUEEEKY SQUEEKY, its shit quality. Its not a matter of opinion. Those are pretty solid facts.

  • Texarmageddon

@Janusha The car just came out a year ago can Build quality even be mentioned? Proper materials? We are talking about a cheap sports car… Most things under 40k tend to have some pretty cheap looking materials. I haven’t found one yet. I’ll say this that there are too many varying factors to comment on quality.
