Volkswagen is introducing the new 2012 Transporter Sportline van in the UK, and a bit similar to the Chevrolet Astro van. The new version van features a sportier look along with new improved equipment, which will have a starting price of £28,220 for the panel van and at £30,100 for the kombi version.
The 2012 Volkswagen Transporter Sportline van is powered by a 2.0-liter BiTDI diesel engine producing 177 horsepower and 295 lb-feet of torque, and it is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. In addition, the Sportline trim is also available with the optional seven-speed DSG transmission for an extra £1,400. The Transporter Sportline van is able to sprint from 0-62 mph in just 9.9 seconds and with a top speed of 119 mph with a standard 6-speed manual transmission.
The Sportline trim is available in three colors of Reflex Silver metallic, Deep Black pearlescent or the optional Candy White with a contrasting gloss black roof. It features a glossy black grille with chrome outlining, smoked headlights and tail lamps, plus a new front bumper with fog lights, a roof spoiler, and a smaller grille along with polished stainless steel sidebars and distinctive 18-inch Sportline 5-spoke alloy wheels.
As for the interior, the 2012 VW Transporter Sportline van boasts a two-tone leather upholster. In addition, the technology amenities inlcude a semi-automatic air conditioning, a multimedia system with a seven-inch color touch screen, satellite navigation system, rear parking sensors, and Bluetooth connectivity.
