Volkswagen has just officially announced pricing for the new 2012 Passat. The mid-size sedan is available in three trim levels of S, SE, and SEL. The base model S starts at $19,995, including $770 in destination charges, and that is about $3,500 more than the VW Jetta.
The new 2012 VW Passat is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 170 horsepower, and it is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard.
Other standard equipment for the base model includes a dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth connectivity and 16-inch steel wheels. And moving up to the SE trim at $23,725 (plus $770 delivery charge), it comes with an eight-way power adjustable seat, 17-inch alloy wheels and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Another up trim is the Passat TDI, which is priced at $25,995 (plus $770 delivery charge). It comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, best of all, it has fuel economy rating up to 43 mpg highway.
Lastly is the powerful model of the 2012 VW Passat, which comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine, and it has a starting price of $28,995. In the SEL trim level, it adds a RNS 510 Navigation, Fender Premium Audio System, Homelink, comfort sport seats, interior chrome accents, wood grain interior décor, exterior chrome accents. In addition, it comes with leather seating surfaces, keyless access and remote start, fog lights, driver seat memory, and an 8-way power passenger seat.
