Toyota just announced the recall of 106,000 Prius cars with the year models from 2001 to 2003. About 52,000 of those units were sold in the States that need to be recalled over steering problem.

Toyota states that the electric power steering pinion shaft nuts may become loose if the steering wheel is over exerted to the full lock position over a period of time.

Although Toyota won’t send the official notice to affected owners until July, however, owners can still bring their cars in for the repair ahead of time. The repair will consist of a replacement of the electric power steering pinion shaft nuts with new equipment.
