Land Rover has just released details on its new 2012 Range Rover Sport that features a new 8-speed automatic transmission and more diesel power.
The new 2012 Range Rover Sport gets a more powerful 3.0-liter SDV6 diesel engine producing 256 horsepower, which is 10 hp up from previous model. The revised engine is mated to the new ZF 8HP70, 8-speed automatic transmission along with the ‘Drive Select’ rotary gear shift and paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
If you opt for the top-of-the-line 2012 Range Rover Sports, it comes with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 gasoline engine producing 510 horsepower. Land Rover claims that it can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds.
But if you don’t such a beastly engine in the top-of-the-line model, you can choose the entry-level 2012 Range Rover Sports, which comes with a 211-horsepower diesel engine.
In addition to the powertrain upgrades, the 2012 Range Rover Sport also comes with new colors for the exterior and interior trims, and a restyled powered tailgate comes as standard. But best of all is a brand new 7-inch touchscreen with Dual View. The Dual View mode allows the driver to view information such as navigational cues, while passengers can enjoy TV or a movie.
