The 2012 Audi TT RS has just arrived in the U.S., and it will go on sale with a starting price of $56,850, not including destination charges. Currently, Audi will be offering just the Audi TT Coupe version, no word yet on whether the TT Roadster version will arrive in the U.S.
The 2012 Audi TT RS is powered by a TFSI 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine producing about 360-horsepower and 343 lb-ft of torque between 1,650 and 5,400 rpm, which is about 20 horsepower and 12 lb-ft more than the European version. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with Audi’s quattro system that channels power to all four wheels. Audi claims that the 2012 Audi TT RS can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.1 seconds with a top speed reaching 174 mph.
In additioin, the 2012 Audi TT RS also gets a magnetic ride suspension that can adjust to different heights at different speed modes. Other appointments for this speed demon include unique 19-inch alloy wheels, and a rear wing.
As for standard equipment, all versions of the TT Coupe and TT Roadster come with a rich variety of interior appointments. The featured items are the “chorus” audio system, a driver information system and – in the TT Coupe- an automatic climate control system. Two navigation systems, a universal cellular phone ready and the Bose Surround Sound system are available as options as well. In addition, a contoured 3-spoke sport multifunction steering wheel, aluminum door sills with the RS logo, 10-way power sport front seats with heating, leather seat, and brushed aluminum interior trims.
