The new Maserati GranTurismo MC and Convertible Sport (GranCabrio Sport overseas) were unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show back in March, and today Maserati makes it available for the North American market with pricing set as well.
The new two-door Maserati GranTurismo is packed with a 4.7-liter V8 engine producing 444 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to the MC Shift-controlled 6-speed ZF automatic transmission as standard. This enables the Maserati GranTurismo to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and with a top speed of 185 mph.
In the hardtop GranTurismo MC is a four-seater, of course, one could consider it as a sport sedan. But it is designed with an aerodynamic body that displays an aggressive stance, so one could consider it as a sports car. As for the GranTurismo Convertible Sport model, it is similar in every way as the hardtop version but without the roof. Both versions come with an aerodynamic package that generates an aerodynamic down force by up to 50% at high speeds without increasing the drag.
The Maserati GranTurismo MC and Convertible Sport will be available in North American market. The 2012 Maserati GranTurismo MC starts at $139,900 in the U.S., while the 2012 Maserati GranTurismo Convertible Sport starts at $147,500.
