About a month ago, we caught the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG testing at the track, and today, we got the official photos and details of it before its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

As we know, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG hardtop roadster will be powered by a new AMG 5.5-liter V8 engine producing 415 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque, which is about 55 horsepower and 20 lb-ft of torque more than previous model. The aluminum V8 engine also features the AMG Cylinder Management system that can shut off four-cylinders from 800 to 3,600 rpm to improve fuel efficiency. Power is shifted through the rear wheels with a 7-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission featuring three modes of Sport, Manual and Efficiency.

Mercedes-Benz claims that 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 4.5 seconds and with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.

As for fuel economy, 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG has a combined fuel consumption of 8.5 lt/100 km, which is 3.5lt or 30% less than the previous model with the 360-hp V8 engine. More power and greater fuel efficiency, you couldn’t ask for more in the new Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG.

For the exterior of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG, it gets a new aero kit along with smoked lights and larger set of light alloy wheels painted in black. And the rest of the exterior looks very much like the standard 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK roadster. As you move into the interior, it gets a set of sports seats and with leather donned all over.

The AMG package also includes a rear differential, AMG sports steering wheel, stiffer suspension and upgraded brakes. The Mercedes SLK 55 AMG will go live at the beginning of 2012.
