2011 Mustang 5L BOSS 17 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0L and Boss 302R

The Ford Mustang 5.0L is back, and it is mightier this time around! The 2011 Ford Mustang GT comes with an all-new advanced 5.0-liter V-8 engine. It was developed to deliver more than 400 horsepower. The new 5.0-liter four-valve Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) V-8 engine in the new Mustang GT will deliver 412 horsepower and 390 ft.-lb. of torque, and with fuel economy in mind. Finally, the Ford Mustang has come in full circle with this new engine; it has been long overdue for the Mustang lovers.

To deliver the increased power in the 5.0-liter V-8 at 412 horsepower and fuel economy over the 2010 Mustang GT powertrain, the Ti-VCT has to be enhanced. The result is an all-new aluminum four-valve-per-cylinder heads with a compact roller finger follower valvetrain layout, which leaves more room for high-flow ports for free-breathing performance. Additionally, the increased capacity and baffling of the deep-sump stamped steel oil pan to enable sustained high-rpm use, which also allows a 10,000-mile oil change intervals for you lazy couch potatoes. Piston-cooling jets also were incorporated for faster oil warm-up on cold start.

At 412 horsepower and 390 ft.-lb. of torque delivered by the 2011 Mustang GT 5.0-liter V-8, it is a significant increase of about 70 horsepower from previous 2010 Mustang model. As for fuel economy, an estimated 25 mpg highway and 17 in the city for the six-speed automatic transmission on the 2011 Mustang GT. The Six-speed manual transmission Mustang GT models for 2011 are estimated to deliver 24 mpg highway and 16 city.

With the lightweight powertrain, the engine weighs just 430 pounds. This is more than 20 percent less versus the previous 5.0-liter model. Lower mass was also contributed by the aluminum block and heads, the lightweight composite intake manifold, composite cam covers and hollow camshafts. All this aided in the fuel economy for new 2011 Mustang.

To improve handling in the 2011 Mustang GT, enhanced rear lower control arm to add stiffness, improve powertrain NVH control and sharpen handling are added. A stiffened rear stabilizer bar for better on-center steering is also included. Stabilizer bar diameters, spring rates and dampers all have been tuned for improved dynamics. A Brembo brake package upgrade will be available for Mustang enthusiasts. This package includes 14-inch vented front discs from the GT500 Mustang, unique 19-inch alloy wheels and summer performance tires.

Prices are expected to be the same as the current Ford Mustang models.

    @Marshmallowrex How did you do that from the bus?

  • AphoticAquatic

    The engine, technologically is a savage. People who hate only show how much they don’t know about the car. Kinda lame the body didn’t change much, but the engine is a bad ass. And the new big block is supposed to be sick as well. Haters only show how much they don’t know.

    Anyway good for you — this way you might appreciate this car

    Stripes are still bullshit and look like band-aids no matter what you say .
    Like putting a bra on a perfect set of tits —– an act against nature — forced by the aristocracy —– to keep the lower class in subservience .

    As usual Greed overtakes any sanity in the marketplace. Not only are these greasy scum-bag dealers charging a premium on V-8 Mustangs but it’s almost impossible to find a V-6 without a bunch of worthless overpriced crap options — making a V-6 in Canada costing in the mid 30 grand —- bunch of lousy butt munchers—
    I hate to buy another import .
    I could go on but screw them all —-I’ll wait until low mileage used ones are out from rental companies .—v-6 at that

  • millwrightman99

    @210772106 — a Senior in High school —– or a senior citizen
    Adding racing stripes makes you about 12 years old .— I think you’re just washing your daddy’s Buick .

    @millwrightman99 i think we should have laws similar to that of germany and stuff. drunk drive and you never drive again. if you do something stupid, you get suspended for a while. look at the lack of an airbag as population control lol. like i said, we should be able to choose to have an airbag if we want to. nader does deserve a special place in hell. ill drive a corvair any day, and ill stuff a v8 in it while im at it
