McLaren plans to offer four new models of its MP4-12C supercar by 2015, and one of it will be a convertible version called the MP4-12 Spider, which will go head to head with the Ferrari 458 Spider.
McLaren is serious about a convertible version of the MP4-12C and has released this first rendering picture of the MP4-12C Spider. The supercar is said to be powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter engine producing 600 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque.
For other McLaren MP4-12C models, McLaren will introduce its new top-of-the-line F1 with the code-named P12, which will produce about 800 horsepower along with the latest technologies available. In addition, an affordable McLaren supercar with a code-named P13 will be later available in 2014.
McLaren has not revealed about the specific details the convertible top. We assume that McLaren will use a hardtop convertible for the MP4-12C Spider if it wants to stay competitive with the Ferrari 458 Spider.
