Road & Track tests out new Porsche 911 GT2 RS


The new 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS is the most extreme model of the 997 Series. Road & Track took out it for a spin at the track to show what it is like behind the wheel of this precise, performance machine.

The new 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS combined the handling and balance of the GT3 RS along with its powerful twin-turbo engine . The result is a well a handling sports car with precision handling that goes beyond any driver’s expectations. The 2012 Porsche 911 GT2 RS is powered by a twin-turbo flat-six engine producing about 600 horsepower. Power is transferred through the rear wheels with a six-speed manual gearbox.

According to Road and Track, even with 600 horsepower, the 911 GT2 RS is relatively easy to drive and comfortable in everyday driving. At the track, the Porsche 911 GT2 R is extremely smooth on some of the demanding curves. And with carbon-ceramic discs used in the braking system, it provides predictable stopping power on corners and curves.
