We got first look at the 2012 Toyota Tacoma through a leaked video, which was pulled off the Web a few hours later. But that proved to be too late, with images of the 2012 Toyota Tacoma have already gone viral. Toyota has officially released information today on the revised 2012 Tacoma pickup truck, and just as we’ve expected from the leaked photos, the new 2012 receives very subtle changes to the exterior and interior.
For 2012 Tacoma pickup up, it shows a redesigned hood, grille, headlamps and front bumper. Inside, it is met with a new center-instrument panel design with a revised gauge cluster, and a new steering wheel. In addition, a redesigned center stack adds new air conditioner/heater controls along with Toyota’s new Entune infotainment and navigation systems on the higher trims.
As for the powertrain, the 2012 Tacoma is available in a wide variety of configurations and models. Many Tacoma models will be offered with a choice between four-cylinder and V6 engines, and 2WD and 4WD drivetrains. The three engine options are: a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine producing 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, a 4.0-liter V6 producing 236 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, and a TRD-tuned 4.0-liter supercharger V6 producing 304 horsepower and 334 lb-ft of torque.
Standard safety equipment for all 2012 Tacoma models features the Toyota Star Safety System, which includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), and Smart Stop brake override technology in addition to the airbag system.
