Mercedes-Benz is planning to unleash a compact two-door roadster to compete with the Audi TT sports car. The Mercedes-Benz SLA roadster is set to release in 2013, and will be based on the company’s B-Class architecture.

Unlike other Mercedes-Benz models, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLA roadster will be a front-wheel sports car, which will be the first two-door to ever build on this platform.

Power for the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLA roadster will be provided by a 1.6-liter direct-injection turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine, or a 1.8-liter turbo-diesel for the European version. There are two transmission options available, which will include either a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox at your disposal.

According to GoAuto.com, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLA roadster will cost around $65,000 AU, and only a soft-top will be available.
