The Toyota Avensis is a well like sedan in Japan, much like the Camry here in the U.S. To spread its good, Toyota has unveiled the 2012 model at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show for the European market. The third-generation 2012 Avensis gets a completely redesigned of the exterior and interior.

The new design of the 2012 Toyota Avensis sedan is more spaciousness and fuel efficiency than current generation model. The 2012 Avensis has been extensively redesigned with Toyota’s new theme to give it a more elegant and athletic look. Major changes in the 2012 Avensis are the proportions of the upper and lower grilles, with larger air inlets for a more dynamic look.  Even the rear end features a newly designed rear bumper to hold the new combination lamp clusters and fog lamps.

As for the interior, the appearance of the dashboard have been greatly improved with the redesigned center console layout to improve the switchgear layout and functionality. The entry level receives fabric seat upholstery, while the Executive trim gets Alcantara finish and the Premium trim gets seats that are now finished with high quality perforated leather inserts to provide a more comfortable ride.

Customers in Europe will be presented with a choice of two body styles, three diesel and three gasoline engines, three transmissions and four model grades. The two body styles are the sedan and station wagon.

In the powertrain department, the 2012 Toyota Avensis will be offered with a six different engines including three diesel and three gasoline engine, with a new 2.0 D-4D turbodiesel producing 124 horsepower. The 124 hp 2.0-liter D-4D turbodiesel has been extensively revised to improve fuel economy. In addition to the 2.0-liter D-4D, the 2012 Toyota Avensis’ six powertrain range includes a 150 hp, 2.2 D-4D unit, a 177 hp 2.2 D-4D DPNR variant, and a choice of 132 hp 1.6 liter, 147 hp 1.8 liter and 152 hp 2.0 liter gasoline engines. All engines are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, and a six-speed automatic transmission is available as well on higher trims.
