Welcome to the club, the two-second car club that is. We have seen many benchmarks set throughout the years as auto technology moved cars beyond its current speed limits, and now, Road & Track is setting up a new “0-60 mph in 2s” benchmark to show a new breed of sports cars.
In the past decades, it was really hard for a production car to achieve the 0-60 mph time mark in about two seconds, but we are now in a time where computer speeds are predicted each year according to Moore’s Law. Still, there are many production sports cars who cannot attain the two-second mark. And those who do, are usually equipped with a four-wheel drive system and a sophisticated launch control system.
Road & Track has recently admitted the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, Porsche 911 Turbo S and Nissan GT-R to the two-second club, and it got a video to show what these cars are made of.
Hopefully by next year, we would like to see other super sports cars from Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin in the test as well. As for now, enjoy the video below.
