Gordon Murray has released more details on its latest design of the Teewave AR1 all-electric car. The Teewave AR1 showcases a lightweight electric car for the company.
The Teewave AR1 all-electric car is a 2-seater sports car, and it is built with Toray carbon fibre component system with a process time of less than 10 minutes. Although the powertrain in the Teewave AR1 all-electric car is based on the same components used commercial electric vehicles, but the electrical architecture and control units were developed specically by Gordon Murray Design.
The result of the vehicle’s carbon fiber monocoque structure and other carbon fiber component reduces the Teewave AR1’s curb weight drastically to about 1,852 pounds.

The resultant vehicle weight of just 850Kg achieved using Toray’s carbon fibre once again proves that performance through light weight is the most efficient and environmentally friendly way to achieve power to weight targets.”
The Teewave AR1 all-electric car is powered by the Mitsubishi i-MiEV powertrain producing about 63 horsepower and 133 pound-feet torque, and it is mounted between the AR1’s rear axle and passenger compartment. The Teewave AR1 electric car tops out at 100 miles per hour, and has a driving range of 100 miles before a recharge, which takes up to about eight hours to a full charge.
