Kia has released pricing for its all-new 2012 Kia Rio five-door hatchback for the U.S., with a starting price of $13,600, not including a $750 destination charge.
The 2012 Kia Rio hatchback will be available in in three trims of LX, EX and SX. Starting with the base model 2012 Kia Rio LX hatchback, it is equipped with a standard 1.6-liter GDI four-cylinder engine and a six-speed manual transmission. Other standard equipment includes air conditioning, electric power steering, an audio system with USB and SiriusXM satellite radio, plus several safety features, including Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ABS, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM). Combined with styling and a slew of standard equipment offerings, at $13,600 sounds very tempting.
Moving up to a higher trim is the 2012 Kia Rio hatchback SX. It has a starting price of $15,450 (including $750 destination charge), and comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission and the same 1.6-liter GDI four-cylinder engine producing 138 horsepower. While the top-of-the-line SX model is priced at $18,750 (including $750 destination charge), and it comes with the same 1.6-liter GDI engine as well. The only major differences on the SX model are the leather interior, nav system, and bigger alloy wheels.
As for the fuel economy, the 2012 Kia Rio hatchback provides an estimated 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. And to further enhance fuel efficiency, it is equipped with ISG start/stop technology to improve city fuel economy.
