2012 Toyota Tacoma TRD T|X Baja Series pickup unveils at State Fair of Texas

Toyota has released a special edition of the 2012 Toyota Tacoma pickup at the State Fair of Texas. The new special edition 2012 Toyota pickup truck is called the Tacoma TRD T|X Baja, which is inspired by the company’s Baja racing heritage.

The 2012 Toyota Tacoma TRD T|X Baja Series Limited Edition pickup truck is powered by a 4.0-liter V6 engine mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the 2012 Toyota Tacoma TRD T|X Baja Series pickup truck features an electronically-controlled locking differential, TRD off-road package with Bilstein race shocks, TRD coil springs with two inches of ride height increased, gun-metal finish wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich T/A KO tires, and bead-lock style wheels.

The 2012 Toyota TRD T|X Baja Series pickup also gets new styling from the standard Tacoma, including a new front end with a new hood, grille, front bumper and headlights. The interior also gets a new instrument panel, updated gauges, and a new steering wheel.

“The Tacoma has long been the sales leader by a wide margin in the compact pickup segment thanks to its well-earned reputation for stellar quality, durability, reliability and off-road capability,” said Bob Carter, group vice president and general manager, Toyota Division. “The limited edition TRD T|X Baja Series adds another chapter to Toyota’s truck legacy by offering a new level of capability for off-road enthusiasts.”

The 2012 Toyota T|X Baja Series pickup is currently undergoing final testing for application on both the Tacoma Access and Double Cab 4×4 models equipped with the TRD Off-Road Package, and will be built exclusively at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (TMMTX) in San Antonio. The 2012 Toyota pickup truck will be available at dealerships in late spring of 2012.
