Audi has announced plans to bring the 2012 Audi RS5 to the U.S. by next year, but we weren’t sure if the U.S. will get the new design of the 2012 Audi A5 and S5 that was unveiled for the European market. Well, recent news revealed that the U.S. market won’t get the new design of the Audi RS5 until 2013.
So, the 2012 Audi RS5 slated for the U.S. market will be the same as the Audi RS5 that was unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show last month, which are the pictures of the Audi RS5 shown above.
The 2012 Audi RS5 for the U.S. will be powered by a 4.2 liter V8 engine producing 450 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The V8 engine is mated to a dual-clutch transmission that feeds power to the quattro all-wheel-drive system. Audi claims that the 2012 Audi RS5 can accelerate from 0-62 mph in merely 4.6 seconds and with a top speed reaching 174 mph.
Audi hasn’t announced pricing for the 2012 Audi RS5 in the U.S. yet, and it plans to announce the price list near launch date. But we expect the new 2012 Audi RS5 to come with a price tag of around $105,900. That is twice the price of the standard Audi S5, which is about $52,400. [10/3/2011]
The highly anticipated 2013 Audi RS5 is finally on sale in the United States, and it will be priced from $68,900 (not including $895 for destination).
