It has been a while since we’ve heard of the Ford Vertrek concept, which is deemed to replace the Ford Escape model. And we just got news that the new 2013 Ford Escape crossover is set to bow at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month, which will be based on the Ford Vertrek concept design.
The new 2013 Ford Escape crossover will be offered with three new four-cylinder engine options, with two engines as turbocharged. The base engine will be the carryover 2.5-liter four-cylinder model, but the other two engines will be based on the new EcoBoost featuring a turbo in form a 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter displacements. The 2013 Ford Escape with a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine produces 180 horsepower while providing a fuel economy of 31 miles per gallon. And even with the larger 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine producing 247 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, it managed to pull in 30 miles per gallon highway.
In concept form, the Ford Vertrek crossover is beautifully designed, but we will have to wait and see if it could deliver the same design in the new 2013 Ford Escape crossover. Stay tuned as we have more updates before its debut at theLos Angeles Auto Show next month.
