Yikes! Just as we thought everything was going good for the new VW Jetta with its cheap starting price and good fuel economy, VW has just announced a recall of about 168,275 VW and Audi vehicles due to faulty fuel injectors in certain diesel-powered models.

The affected vehicles include the 2009-2012 year model Jetta 2.0 liter TDI, 2010-2012 Golf 2.0 liter TDI and the 2010-2012 Audi A3 2.0 liter TDI.

Based on the filing with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, it states that vibrations in the fuel-injectors may cause cracks to form in the fuel lines which can lead to a fire hazard. So far, no reports of such a fire yet, but VW is playing it safe to warn owners of the potential hazard.

Affected owners can bring their vehicles in for an inspection and repair at any VW dealership. The job will be free of charge with the replacement of new dampers and replacing of fuel injector lines if needed.
