Just last week, Hyundai announced of the 2012 Veloster at the upcoming SEMA show, and now the company plans to have a modified version of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe at the show as well.
Hyundai has quickly adapted to the SEMA scene, and from the show last year, it got a few cars that are just down right racer style. Last year, Hyundai has worked with ARK Performance to provide an onslaught of aftermarket parts for Genesis Coupe. But this year, the company is working with a few other aftermarket companies such as Magnuson Products, Rhys Millen Racing, Harman International and Torvec Inc. to provide more performance aftermarket parts.
From the rendering photo above, it seems that Hyundai will be showing off the 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe instead of the 2012 model. Last year modified Hyundai Genesis Coupe was hot, and hopefully, Hyundai can top it off this year.
This year Hyundai Genesis Coupe will have the “Hurricane SC” moniker attached to it. As the name suggested, the SEMA Hyundai Genesis Coupe will be fast and powerful. The Supercharged Hyundai Genesis Hurricane SC gets a boost to 450 horsepower from its 3.8-liter V6 engine. In addition to the increased power output, Torvec Inc. has fitted its IsoTorque differential to improve handling and traction. Hyundai claims that the Supercharged Hyundai Genesis Hurricane SC car is one second quicker around the track than the stock Genesis Coupe. One second doesn’t seem much, but it is a lot time if you travel at a speed of 150 mph.
Among the performance upgrades, Hyundai is adding a few other functional aesthetic aerodynamic parts to the car. The Supercharged Hyundai Genesis Hurricane SC gets new front bumper, grille, side skirts, hood, diffuser and rear deck from Rhys Millen Racing. While alloy wheels and tires are provided Enkei and Hankook, respectively.
But Hyundai didn’t just stop at the exterior only, inside the Supercharged Hyundai Genesis Hurricane SC, you’ll find a Lexicon audio system and custom Katzkin leather upholstery featuring blue suede inserts on the seats.
More images of the Supercharged Hyundai Genesis Hurricane SC will be coming as it gets closer to the SEMA show next month.
