This morning Porshe unveiled its 2011 Porshe 911 Turbo S, its signature performance bred car. At the heart of this most exclusive high-performance bred is the six-cylinder boxer boosted by two exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry. It produces power over the 911 Turbo by 30 to 530 horsepower (390 kW). Maximum torque is most impressive at a whopping 516 lb-ft (700 Newton-metres). At the same time this new top model comes as standard with all high-tech components available only as options on the “regular” 911 Turbo. Fuel consumption remains relative the same as the Porshe 911 Turbo, despite its increase in power and dynamic performance.

The 911 Turbo S comes exclusively with seven-speed Porsche-Doppel-kupplungsgetriebe (PDK) (Porsche’s Double-Clutch Gearbox), well that is a mouth full, in short the PDK manages drive power to Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive system.  With Launch Control on the Sport Chrono Package Turbo, the 911 Turbo S accelerates from 0- 60 mph in an impressive 3.3 seconds.  That is 0.1  faster than the Corvette ZR-1, and it reaches speed up to 124 miles/h in 10.8 seconds with top speed at 195 mph.

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S will be at the dealership as both a Coupé and Cabriolet by May 2010. The German market price of the Turbo S Coupe is $236,387 (173,241 Euro) and the Euro base price is Euro 145,400 ($198,398 ). The Cabriolet retails in the German market at $251,813 (Euro 184,546) and the base price Euro 154,900 ($211,361 ). Man that is expensive, I’ll just stick with American ingenuity.
