BMW has just dropped full images and details of the new 2012 Mini Roadster. The 2012 Mini Roadster is the sixth model in the Mini lineup with a convertible manual soft-top, which will go on sale in the North American market in mid 2012.
The 2012 Mini Roadster is a convertible two-seater. It is measured at 146.8 inches in length, 64.5 inches in width and 54.7 inches in height. It sits at 0.8 inches lower than a traditional Mini convertible. The 2012 Mini Roadster has been refined to provide a more agile handling, which featuring a new chassis tuning, electronic differential lock control, rollover bars and active rear spoiler that extends automatically at 50 mph.
The 2012 Roadster will be available in four variations: Mini John Cooper Works Roadster, Mini Cooper S Roadster, Mini Cooper Roadster and Mini Cooper SD Roadster. The first three variations will be available in the U.S. These models will get four different engines, including the 2.0-liter turbodiesel with 143-horsepower and 225 pound-feet in the Cooper SD Roadster up to the John Cooper Works with a 211-hp 1.6-liter TwinPower Turbo.
Even though the 2012 Mini Roadster is small in size, it’s still come with a few assisted features such as electric Power Steering and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) as standard, DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) with EDLC (Electronic Differential Lock Control) optional (standard in the MINI John Cooper Works Roadster).
Other standard features for the 2012 Mini Roadster include electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, Park Distance Control, height-adjustable seats, audio system with MP3-compatible CD player and AUX IN connection. While optional features include black headlight housing, xenon Adaptive Headlights, Comfort Access, automatic climate control and the Always Open Timer.
