Subaru Advanced Tourer Concept sports wagon to debut at Tokyo Motor Show

The Subaru brand isn’t exactly an exciting brand for the masses, but recently, the company has been catching up with the market trend to produce more sleeker and modern cars. We have seen the introduction of the new Subaru BRZ Concept, and now the company plans to debut its new Subaru Advanced Tourer Concept at the coming up Tokyo Motor Show.

Even though the current Subaru Legacy is a reliable people mover, it isn’t exactly what you would call as in trend and modern, which is why Subaru is coming out with the Subaru Advanced Tourer Concept. Hopefully, we will see it as the replacement for the future Subaru Legacy.

From the photos, the Subaru Advanced Tourer Concept is definitely more aggressive and muscular than the current model Legacy. It has more of a wagon style with five doors, although it looks very compact for a wagon. It features an innovative exterior design that is like a cross between an SUV and wagon, if it were to sit any higher above the ground, we could categorize it as a crossover instead.

Power for the Subaru Advanced Tourer Concept sports wagon will be provided with the new in-house hybrid drivetrain that has a combination of an electric motor to a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine, which Subaru claims that it will have the same performance as a 2.0- or 2.5-liter engine but with better fuel consumption. And like many Subaru cars, the Subaru Advanced Tourer Concept have an all-wheel drive system via a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission).

As for the interior, it pretty much a concept, and we don’t think most of the layout and features will be in the production model. But we do think that the panoramic glass sunroof may be a feature that we will see in the production model.

The Subaru Advanced Tourer Concept sports wagon will make its debut along with the new BRZ compact coupe at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show later this month.
