New Toyota Supra may be powered by 400-hp hybrid powertrain

News of the new Toyota Supra has re-emerged lately since the introduction of the Toyota GT 86 production model. And now, word has it that the new Toyota Supra sports car may get its power from a hybrid system.

According to Motor Trend, the iconic sports car is said to be powered by a 3.5-liter V6 hybrid powertrain producing about 400 horsepower. The hybrid powertrain is currently in testing with a possible release in 2015. That is a long time from now, but we will get to enjoy the Toyota GT 86 instead.

So how will this new Supra look? Well, the new Toyota Supra sports car will be based on the FT-HS concept that was debuted at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show. Our guess would be a more muscular version of the Toyota GT 86.

At any rate, we hope that the price of the new Toyota Supra sports car will be down to earth, not like its┬ápredecessor, which killed it in the 90’s with a hefty price tag.
