Hennessey plans to tune McLaren MP4-12C supercar to 800 hp of twin-turbo power


Just as you think that the McLaren MP4-12C supercar couldn’t get any more powerful, Hennessey may have a surprise coming up. The company is planning to modify this supercar into a rocket on four wheels.

The McLaren MP4-12C supercar with its distinctive styling could use a bit of more power from its 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. Although the stock 592 horsepower is already plenty, but Hennessey Performance doesn’t think it’s up to par with the supercar arena. So the company is planning to up the ante a bit.

Hennessey Performance is anything but new to the stratosphere power arena on cars. We’ve seen from the 800-hp Cadillac CTS-V to its 1,000-horsepower behemoth Viper GTS. And the company is getting more advance each year, and this time it takes on the state-of-art supercar such as the McLaren MP4-12C.

Since the introduction of the Viper GTS, Hennessey has gotten some design cues to the exterior as well. To which the new Hennessey tuning package for the McLaren MP4-12C supercar comes with both upgrades in the power and look departments. The Hennessey tuning package consists of a pair of turbos, larger intercooler, intake, exhaust, electronic control modules and transmission. For the exterior, it is fitted with a carbon aero body kit, and new wheels. While the interior is layered in carbon finish along with leather and Alcantara.

The result of the tuning kit is a power boost to 800 horsepower to the McLaren MP4-12C’s 3.8-liter V8 engine.
