The Savage Rivale Roadyacht GTS supercar concept may not be everyone’s taste, but one thing is for sure that will attract the attention from most people is its innovative multi-panel retractable hard roof.
Major car companies have retractable roof on two-door cars, but we haven’t seen it on any four-door vehicles, and that is because the current roof mechanism design will be too big and heavy. That is where the innovative multi-panel retractable hard roof from Savage Rivale comes in. The Dutch car designer managed to come up with with a layout to make a retractable hard roof on four-door vehicles possible.
The multi-panel retractable roof on the Roadyacht GTS is based around a retractable arm that deploys the glass panels on it. It provides a support for these glass panels to stack and lay out as it expands and contracts. The challenge now is how to make a mechanism that will retract and extend the support arm while providing structural support to the car.
The Savage Rivale Roadyacht GTS with innovative multi-panel retractable hard roof is still in its development stage right now. We’ll keep you posted as more details come out. In the meantime, watch the video below to see this multi-panel retractable roof in action.
